Sung on Friday night. This service has the Lamentations - and a procession with the shroud outside.
The Lamentations - there are two different melodies; the first two stases use the Zaitsev melody, and we sing it mainly from text (we sing the parts in caps with a straight chord, and the verses in between are on the melody; I will see if I can figure out how to mark it for us). I couldn't find a longer recording, but they use this in the first two minutes of the video of Stasis 1 before switching to a different melody.
The third stasis is a different melody and is almost festal in nature - a big shift that is very memorable! It's in a Greek melody, it's very long too and again we chant the verses on a chord between the melodies. Again, unfortunately I couldn't find a video of the entire thing, but they use it in the Stasis 3 video at about the 4 minute mark.
The Canon - it'll be fairly straightforward but I just want to highlight the 9th Ode. It's a popular piece and people have the habit of shouting the line "FOR I SHALL ARISE!!" As noted in the sheet music, we instead want to do a gradual crescendo, and stay at forte until the end of the piece. (In contrast to the Youtube link, which stays quiet the entire time until it repeats in the katavasia, which they finish at forte.)
Great Doxology/Procession Outside - watch the video at the 1 hr 55 minute mark - note what they sing at the procession in particular as I will need all the help I can get singing it outside! It won't let me link it below so here's the hyperlink: https://www.youtube.com/live/nfU1sDzGANE?si=v3yYLsBCtXgvG_Oy
